About Warwick

About Warwick

Warwick is a picturesque town with a blend of history, culture and modern charm. It has some stunning medieval architecture and regal landmarks yet the town and surrounding areas are also home to a diverse range of businesses that contribute to its economy. These businesses range from retail, service and hospitality sectors to industrial and tech enterprises.

Warwick’s roots stretch back to Roman times, but it is most famous for its medieval history and the magnificent Warwick Castle. The centre of Warwick retains much of its original character, and while it has undoubtedly embraced modernity, Warwick’s heritage is very much alive and integral to the town’s identity.

As one of the largest tourist attractions in the UK, Warwick Castle is a major business in the town. This majestic fortress has its origins dating back to the 11th century, and was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Yet the castle is not just a historical landmark but also a major driver of local tourism, employing hundreds of people in various roles, including hospitality, events, and education. The castle hosts year-round events, including jousting tournaments, medieval banquets, and seasonal festivals, which attract tourists from all over the world and generate substantial revenue for local businesses.

The town of Warwick is also home to a diverse range of businesses that support both the local community and the wider region. From major employers like Jaguar Land Rover and the University of Warwick to small startups and businesses in the hospitality and retail sectors, Warwick offers a balanced and thriving business environment. These businesses not only serve the needs of residents but also contribute to the vibrant economy and character of the town, making it a great place to live, work and visit.
